Team Garvey’s St. Mary’s, who face their first season in the women’s Super League have secured a home draw for their first game in the Paudie O’Connor cup, the cup draws were made at the national arena last evening (Wednesday), the Castleisland side were drawn against current cup holders Pyrobel Killester. Coach Liam Culloty has said while he expects it to be a tough game he is looking forward to the challenge of meeting the current champions, the first round of the cup will take place on the weekend of November 21st/22nd.
The club has also confirmed the signing of Jordan Chavis, Chavis who is from Lexington, North Carolina joins the club from University of Missouri.
The 5’10 guard, started all 30 games she appeared in during her senior season with the Mizzou women’s side during which she shot 46.4 percent from three and 88.2 from the free throw line.
Chavis is currently isolating as per COVID-19 protocol but should be in full training with the squad before the end of the month.
Team Garvey’s St. Mary’s are set to play their first league game of the 20/21 season on the weekend of October 17th/18th when they are away to Fr. Matthews of Cork. The following two weekends will see the team meet Brunell and Waterford in Tom McCarthy home games.
