The release of white-tailed eagles which was due to take place today on the Kerry-Limerick border has been delayed.

Four young birds were due to be released this morning in the area of the Shannon Estuary.

However, the release has been postponed due to the stormy weather.

Allan Mee of the White-Tailed Sea Eagle Project says it's hoped the release can go ahead on Sunday.

The release of the birds is part of a scheme to bolster the white-tailed sea eagle population in Ireland.
