The Cork amateur is two shots back from the lead, in a tie for fifth on three under par.

Sugrue gets his round under way at 20 to 3, as he looks to chellenge Jordan Smith, Aaron Rai and Dean Burmester who are out in front on five under.

Damien McGrane is next best for Ireand on level par.

Out on the course, Padraig Harrington has pulled back a shot to get to one over par through 7,

Jonathan Caldwell tees off from the same mark just before four o clock.

Shane Lowry has a half past 2 start but faces a battle to make the cut on five over.

Meanwhile Sebastian Soderberg has been forced to withdraw from the tournament because of coronavirus contact tracing.

Despite the Swede testing negative for Covid-19, the European Tour made the decision after consulting with health authorities in Northern Ireland.

Soderberg's playing partners Tom McKibbin and Scott Hend teed off in their second rounds this morning.
