In the Premier League, it was a dramatic finish in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs and Newcastle drew 1-1.

The home team took the lead in the first-half through a Lucas Moura strike.

However, in stoppage time V-A-R picked out an Eric Dier handball in the Spurs penalty area.

Newcastle's new signing Callum Wilson slotted home the penalty to tie the game, as the final whistle blew seconds later.

Spurs manager José Mourinho was reluctant to comment after the game.

In the early action of the day, Leeds United came out 1-0 winners over Sheffield United.

A late Patrick Bamford goal was enough to see the game off at Bramall Lane for the visitors.

In Irish interest, Northern Irishman Jonathan Caldwell is sitting well behind the pack on 8 over par.

It was a successful outing for Mercedes as Valterri Bottas won today's Russian Grand Prix.

The Finnish driver came out on top with team-mate Lewis Hamilton taking third place after taking on a ten second penalty.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen came in second - rounding out the podium finishes.

Venus Williams bowed out earlier in a straight sets loss to Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

No. 2 world ranked Simona Halep also featured early, securing a straight sets win.
