€125,000 has been allocated to the Transatlantic Cable Ensemble in Valentia.
This is the single biggest allocation from the Pilot World Heritage Strategic Investment Fund worth €300,000.
The fund can be used for the conservation, maintenance, protection and promotion of archaeological and built heritage within the site.
While the Transatlantic Cable Ensemble received the largest allocation, The Royal Sites of Ireland will receive €87,000, and the Passage Tomb Landscape of Sligo will receive €22,000.
The neolithic structures at Brú na Bóinne in Co. Meath will receive €3,500.
The funding allocation has been welcomed by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality and Kerry TD Norma Foley, and Kerry TD Michael Cahill.
