Storm Amy leaves 250 customers in Kerry without power

Over 250 customers are without power in Kerry this afternoon.

The areas affected by the power outage include Ballybunion, Ballyrickard, Castleisland, and Milltown and Inch, with power expected to be restored to each area in the next hour.

Irish Rail, Local Link, bus Eireann and Dublin Coaches are all running as scheduled, although Dublin Coaches has advised passengers from Tralee, Killarney and Abbeyfeale to allow for extra time when travelling.

Kerry County Council has advised motorists to take additional care while driving and to be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists, and to be aware of falling debris and power lines.

The N71 between Kenmare and Killarney at Eagles Nest is flooded.

The fallen tree on the R555 between Duagh and Abbeyfeale is expected to be cleared around now; while the road from Listry to Beaufort by Rosnacartan was partially blocked by fallen trees, causing traffic delays.

There are also reports of fallen trees on the R-552 Bedford road and the R-556 Abbeydorney road.

Kerry County Council has advised motorists to take additional care while driving and to be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists.
