The Government is being asked to match Kerry’s contribution to powering Ireland with investment that delivers jobs, enterprise growth and stronger communities.
Tralee Chamber Alliance hosted an event in the town today bringing together leaders from business, state agencies, local government and education to discuss Kerry's role in Ireland's energy future.
Chief Executive of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Colette O'Connor says Kerry is playing its part in helping to power Ireland.
She says the county needs to see more benefits in terms of investment and job creation to help drive growth locally:
Noel Cunniffe is the CEO of Wind Energy Ireland and he also addressed the event, and acknowledged Kerry’s role in producing a significant amount of wind energy.
As well as the economic benefits that renewable energy can bring, the challenges facing businesses and communities were also discussed at today’s event.
These include grid capacity and issues around planning.
