It’s understood the person of interest in the Jamey Carney murder investigation has been detained in Jordan.
Ms Carney, who was in her 40s, was found dead in her home in Killarney last Tuesday; Gardaí upgraded the investigation to a murder the following day.
Ahmad al-Saqar, who is in his 20s, is a person of interest to the investigation and the Irish Independent reports he has been detained by Jordan’s Public Security Directorate.
Ireland does not have an extradition treaty with Jordan.
However, earlier today the Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan said Gardaí will engage with police in Jordan as part of their investigations.
