The Jordanian Community Forum in Ireland has condemned the murder of Jamey Carney.
Ms Carney, who was in her 40s, was found dead in her home in Killarney last Tuesday and Gardaí upgraded the investigation to a murder the following day.
It’s feared a suspect in investigation, Ahmad al-Saqar, has entered a country which holds no extradition treaty with Ireland.
Gardaí are continuing to work with international authorities in the search for Ahmad al-Saqar who left the country last week, before the body of Jamey Carney was discovered at her home in Killarney.
It's believed he may now have entered Jordan, where there’s no extradition treaty with Ireland.
Earlier today, the Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan said Gardaí will engage with police in Jordan as part of their investigations.
He said while it’s a difficult situation if he is in a country with no extradition treaty, issues like this have occurred before and people have been successfully extradited back to Ireland.
The Jordanian Community Forum in Ireland has issued a statement online expressing its profound sorrow and deep anguish at Jamey Carney’s murder.
The statement says the forum unequivocally condemns this horrific crime in the strongest possible terms and they extend their deepest condolences and heartfelt solidarity to Ms Carney’s family, friends and loved ones.
It says at this painful time the Jordanian Forum stands hand-in-hand with her family and the people of Ireland.
