Gardaí are urging the public to remain vigilant regarding mobile phone scams, particularly on WhatsApp.
People are advised to never send codes to known contacts when messaged on the platform.
Sending these codes allows online scammers to hack and take over a person's WhatsApp account.
Sergeant Mike Quirke from Tralee Garda Station is advising people to never reply to these messages over WhatsApp:
As well as this, people are reminded that Revenue will never be in contact over text regarding tax back incentives.
Links sent by text looking for bank details should always be ignored and considered fraudulent.
People are advised to make all enquiries directly through the Revenue website.
