Oil spill in River Feale possibly caused by leak from domestic home heating tank

A leak from a domestic home heating oil tank is the likely source of yesterday’s oil contamination of the River Feale, according to Irish Water.

 

The Water Treatment Plant at Dromin, Listowel had to be shut down last night following the oil leak.

Some customers in the Listowel area experienced low water pressure and water outages for a time this morning.

Irish Water’s Operations lead, Ian O’Mahony said the oil spill has been contained and it’s hoped to have the water treatment plant back in production today.
