A new entrance point to the Tralee-Fenit greenway will be completed later this summer.
A recent Tralee Municipal District meeting heard that Kerry County Council will also install location markers along the greenway.
Both measures are set to help the emergency services in the event of any incidents on the greenway.
Fianna Fáil councillor Anne O’Sullivan asked the council if measures were taken to ensure that there were adequate and suitable points of access or exit for emergency vehicles and personnel along the greenway.
The council replied that it is actively looking for additional access points for greenway users and emergency vehicles.
It said the civil works for a new access point at The Spa are substantially completed, and it’s anticipated this will be surfaced and open in the third quarter of the year – between June and September.
Cllr O’Sullivan also asked that location identifying markers be installed along the 13.6km greenway.
These can help people identify where exactly they are on the greenway in case of any emergency.
The council replied that it is to procure and install location markers on the greenway in the coming months, and these will also detail emergency access points.
