Community groups in Killarney are paying tribute to Jamey Carney, who was found dead at her home in Killarney this week.
Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into Ms Carney’s death.
The 43-year-old mother of one was from the Westchester area of New York, but has lived in Kerry for around five years.
Dr Crokes GAA Club has said all in the club were numbed when the news broke earlier this week about the horrific death of Jamey Carney.
In a tribute on social media, Dr Crokes said when Jamey moved to Ireland, she integrated quickly into Killarney’s community and her daughter wore the club’s black and amber colours.
The club says it will be providing as much support as they can in this most difficult time.
Meanwhile, the Killarney for Palestine group has offered its sympathies to Ms Carney’s family and friends.
The group says Jamey Carney supported their events in the past, and no words are sufficient to describe the impact of her horrific loss.
The group expressed its deepest sympathy to her family and friends at their devastating loss.
Killarney for Palestine said misogyny and violence against women are a scourge on our society and it strongly condemns them in all their forms.
Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information that may assist the investigation, to come forward.
They say that they’re satisfied a person of interest in the investigation left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and they are engaging with international law enforcement partners as part of this ongoing investigation.
