A Kerry MEP says the EU must continue to seek new trade agreements worldwide for many different strategic reasons.
Speaking at the European Parliament, Seán Kelly, said new deals could unlock rare raw materials.
The Fine Gael MEP warned that such agreements must ensure that EU producers are protected from unfair competition.
