Kerry County Council has secured four court convictions relating to waste already this year, up from zero in all of last year.
The same data shows the amount of money awarded to the council through environmental court convictions this year, is almost double the amount in all of 2025.
The information was shared with county councillors at the recent Tralee Municipal District meeting.
Kerry County Council investigated 518 complaints relating to waste in all of 2025, but secured no convictions, with no amounts awarded by the courts.
In the first five months of this year, the council investigated 218 waste-related complaints, secured four convictions, and was awarded a total of €4,520.
The council secured three court convictions relating to water in 2025, with €3,200 awarded to the council.
Up to May this year, there were two court convictions off the back of water complaints investigated by the council, with €4,250 awarded.
So far this year, the council has received 257 litter complaints, with 28 fines issued; 14 of those fines have been paid to-date.
There has been one conviction relating to litter in Kerry this year, with €420 awarded to the council; last year, €1,500 was awarded off the back of two litter-related court convictions.
