New Cathaoirligh and a Mayor have been elected across all of Kerry’s Municipal Districts.
AGM’s were held for all five MD’s in the county this morning at Áras an Chontae.
Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil councillor Mikey Sheehy was elected as the new Mayor of Kerry a short time ago at the full council annual general meeting.
The Tralee Municipal District was the first area in the county to host its AGM at County Buildings this morning.
Fine Gael councillor Angie Baily has been elected as the Mayor of Tralee, taking over from Labour’s Terry O’Brien.
Fianna Fáil councillor Anne O’Sullivan was elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor of Tralee – following nomination by Cllr Mikey Sheehy and seconding from Cllr Terry O’Brien.

In the Listowel MD, Fianna Fáil councillor Jimmy Moloney was elected Cathaoirleach replacing his party colleague Cllr Michael Leane.
Outgoing Mayor of Kerry, Fine Gael councillor Michael Foley was elected Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Listowel MD.

Kerry Independent Alliance councillor John O’Donoghue has been elected as Cathaoirleach of Killarney.
He takes over the chair from Cllr Martin Grady and was proposed by Cllr Brendan Cronin and seconded by Cllr Maura Healy-Rae.
Independent councillor Brendan Cronin will operate as the Leas-Cathaoirleach in the Killarney MD for the year ahead.

Fianna Fáil councillor Breandán Fitzgerald is the new Cathaoirleach of the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD, taking over from outgoing Cathaoirleach, Fine Gael’s Bobby O’Connell.
Cllr Fitzgerald’s party colleague, Cllr Fionnán Fitzgerald will take the reins as Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District.

In the Kenmare MD, Fine Gael councillor Teddy O’Sullivan Casey has been elected Cathaoirleach.
He was proposed by independent councillor Dan McCarthy, and replaces Fianna Fáil’s Norma Moriarty as chair, who will act as Leas-Cathaoirleach for Kenmare for the year ahead.
