The Garda Press Office is not commenting on a report that gardaí have recovered a chainsaw from Mike Gaine's farmyard as part of the investigation into his murder.
The Irish Times has reported that gardaí recovered the chainsaw and have sent it for forensic analysis.
According to the newspaper, the chainsaw was found hidden in Mr Gaine's farmyard in Carrig East, Kenmare and has been taken to Forensic Science Ireland's laboratory in Dublin to see if it any DNA evidence can be obtained from the cutting tool.
When contacted by Radio Kerry, the Garda Press Office said that it had not provided such information to the media.
The press office said that as Radio Kerry's query would pertain to specific operational activity undertaken by gardaí as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, it said it's not in a position to comment.
56-year-old Mike Gaine was last seen on the morning of March 20th when he bought phone credit from Whyte's Centre in Kenmare town.
On April 29th, gardaí upgraded Mr Gaine's case from a missing person's investigation to a homicide probe.
Last weekend, it was confirmed that material discovered while slurry was being spread on Mr Gaine's farmland in Carrig East was human tissue.
A man in his fifties, who was arrested on suspicion of Mike Gaine's murder on Sunday, was released without charge on Monday night.
Large scale searches of Mr Gaine's land has continued with the Defence Forces - including the army's specialist team of search engineers - and Kerry Drain Services assisting gardaí.
