The local forum for health services in Kerry and Cork has elected a new chairperson.
The Regional Health Forum South West comprises of members from Kerry County Council, Cork City Council and Cork County Council.
At it’s recent AGM in Áras an Chontae, Tralee, Cork City (South East) Labour councillor Peter Horgan was elected as chair.
Among the 20 forum members are Kerry councillors Deirdre Ferris (Sinn Féin), Marie Moloney (Labour), Jackie Healy-Rae (Independent), Mikey Sheehy (Fianna Fáil), and Norma Moriarty (Fianna Fáil).
Speaking after his election as Chair Cllr Peter Horgan said “I’m honoured to have received the support of elected members to take the Chair of the HSE South West Regional Health Forum. It has always been my view that ‘public health is public wealth’ and we must harness that."
“There are challenges and opportunities across the region and we must ensure that Cork and Kerry is to the fore in providing the public health we all want to see delivered on the ground.”
