The man arrested on suspicion of the murder of Michael Gaine has been released without charge.
A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of murder.
The arrest came after partial human remains were found on Mike Gaine's farm.
Michael Gaine was last seen in Kenmare on March 20th and a missing persons investigation was launched.
The investigation was upgraded to a homicide at the end of April and over the weekend Mr Gaine’s land was declared a crime scene after partial human remains were found.
Gardaí say DNA testing is needed to formally identify the recovered human remains; this is expected to take a period of time.
The man arrested yesterday was detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He is represented by solicitor Pat Mann and was being questioned at Killarney Garda Station.
He has been released without charge.
Gardaí say search operations, supported by local, regional, and national Garda units, other emergency services and the Defence Forces, are ongoing at Carrig East, Kenmare.
Gardaí continue to appeal to the public for assistance in this investigation.
The Garda investigation team can be contacted at Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or speak with any member of An Garda Síochána.
Gardaí say Mr Gaine’s family are continuing to appeal for privacy.
