The N71 Killarney to Kenmare road has closed again to facilitate ongoing fire prevention efforts.

A wildfire initially started in the Five Mile Bridge area of Killarney National Park on Tuesday evening, but it was brought under control after several hours.

However, further flare ups have followed, with evidence of fires in remote areas and underground fires.

Kerry County Council have advised that the road will reopen again later today.
