Kerry County Council has a budget of over €2.5 million for housing adaptations this year.
That's an increase of over €170,000 on 2019 funding.
The money will be used to adapt houses for older people and those with a disability or mobility issue.
Kerry Fine Gael TD and Deputy Government Chief Whip, Brendan Griffin welcomed the increase in funding saying it is vital to allow people to remain living independently in their own homes.
Grants up to €30,000 are available to help people with a disability, up to €8,000 for older people and up to €6,000 for mobility aids.
