Sgt. Adrian Brennan, Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors Representative for Kerry, spoke to Jerry about issues being raised by sergeants and inspectors at their conference being held this week in Galway.

Antoinette Cunningham, general secretary of the AGSI (Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors) spoke to Jerry about the attack on two gardaí that happened in Ballyfermot, Dublin in the early hours of Monday morning. Ninety-three per cent of participants in a Kerry Today Twitter poll on the subject believed there should be mandatory sentencing for those who attack emergency workers including gardaí while on duty.    

The Kerry branch of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors is seeking legal aid reform in a motion put before this week’s national conference, which is being held in the Great Southern Hotel. Sergeant Adrian Brennan of the AGSI says gardaí should be able to view a statement of means put before the court when defendants apply for legal aid.
