The judicial watchdog has said it will not investigate retired judge James O’Connor, despite claims made in the Dáil that he “abused his position” to pursue a woman for a relationship. The retired judge has never commented on the allegations. The Judicial Council said it couldn’t deal with the complaint because Mr O’Connor had retired as a judge prior to its investigative powers commencing.
