There’s optimism among young Kerry people returning to school.

They’re getting ready to go back into classrooms after five months of being at home.

Charlie Fort is going in fifth year at Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School, Tralee.

She’s looking forward to getting back to school, and while she’s happy to abide by the rules to wear a mask all day, she feels some people might not agree with this.

Lucy Murphy has just finished national school and is going in to first year in Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine in Kenmare.

She says it’ll be different, and isn’t what she and her classmates were expecting their start of secondary school to be like.

Kerry Diocesan Youth Service says it’s very aware of the impact of COVID-19 on young people and their families, and understands the anxieties and pressure it’s imposed on people.
