A woman has been remanded in custody with consent to bail in relation to alleged assaults in South Kerry.
67 year-old Iryna Kulyk who is a Ukrainian national, appeared before Judge David Waters at Tralee District Court.
She faces charges of assault and assault causing harm in Kenmare last month.
Ms Kulyk appeared in person at Tralee District Court and through a Russian interpreter outlined that she came to stay with her daughter and she wants to go home.
She previously appeared before Judge Waters on May 28th and was remanded in custody, with consent to bail, subject to conditions. These conditions included providing an address within 48 hours, providing an up to date phone number within 48 hours, and having no contact direct or indirect with the complainants.
At that sitting, Gardaí gave evidence of arresting Ms Kulyk at Kenmare Bay Hotel at 8.30am on May 27th.
She responded saying “sorry, sorry, sorry, thank you”; evidence of a further charge and caution was also heard, to which she made no reply.
Sergeant Chris Manton told the court that directions from the DPP are awaited in relation to the case.
Solicitor Brendan Ahern advised the judge that his client wants to go home, but does not want to sign the bail bond, which would release her from custody.
He previously indicated he understands that Ms Kulyk, who is a Ukrainian asylum seeker, has underlying conditions.
Through the interpreter she was told she would be released from custody if she signs the bond, however, the interpreter advised he was uncertain whether Ms Kulyk understood this.
The court heard it’s believed she has a daughter in Dublin, but it’s understood she is estranged from her family.
Sgt Manton advised efforts will be made to contact Ms Kulyk's family.
Judge Waters further remanded her in custody with consent to bail – subject to a number of conditions - to appear before Tralee District Court on June 11th for DPP directions.
