Cllr says additional water supply needed for future housing development in Kenmare

More investment is needed to secure an additional water supply for Kenmare in a bid to aid development in the town.

That’s according to Independent councillor Johnny Healy-Rae.

He tabled a motion on the issue at the recent Kenmare Municipal District meeting.

Cllr Healy-Rae says the lack of such a supply is hampering development and the building of homes in the Kenmare area.

This issue has been long running in the town, around 10 years ago there was a failed €3 million plan to extract water from Sheen River.

Cllr Johnny Healy-Rae says to sustain growth and keep people living and working locally, the area needs housing.
