Warning of rat infestations around county

There are reports of rats entering public buildings and homes around Kerry due to the cold, wet weather.

Radio Kerry understands several premises have had to close temporarily including a school in this county.

The school has had to close for a number of days.

Rentokil says after sustained rainfall, rats’ outdoor nests can become flooded or disturbed.

This results in the rodents trying to get into premises.

Rentokil says potential entry points in buildings should be sealed.

Waste and food should also be securely stored.
