A swimmer was rescued from the Tralee Bay yesterday evening, after they had gotten into difficulty at Locke’s beach.
Lifeguards on duty raised the alarm at 7pm and the Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) at Fenit was immediately launched.
The rescue was aided by the All-Weather Lifeboat (ALB), and both lifeboats began a coordinated joint search operation.
The swimmer had been carried offshore by strong currents and an outgoing tide, and was located approximately 2 miles from the originally reported location.
Once rescued, they were provided with initial care and warming measures, and transported back to shore.
