Russia has been in receipt of increased amounts of Irish alumnia in recent months - despite concerns around its use in the arms industry.
Updated figures released by the Central Statistics Office show more than 90 thousand tonnes of the good - produced by Aughinish Alumnia - was sent to Russia in May, with production ramping up in recent months.
It comes amidst suggestions the Government will be unable to rule out a link between the Limerick plant and Russia's war on Ukraine.
The factory is a significant employer in North Kerry and West Limerick, located off the N69 close to Askeaton.
The Government has been investigating Aughinish Alumnia - and whether its goods are being used to make weapons for Russia.
Sources have now told the Irish Times Ministers are unlikely to be able to rule out a connection because of a lack of hard evidence to form a definite conclusion.
There's been calls for sanctions if the company is found to be supporting Russia - an issue that is contensious because of the jobs the west Limerick plant provides.
Most recently Enterprise Minister Peter Buke said 1 thousand people are directly employed by the company with 900 further jobs linked to it.
The report into the plant is expected to be finished in the coming days.
