The planned reopening of Skellig Michael has been delayed.
The Office of Public Works, which has responsibility for managing and maintaining the island, says the reopening has been pushed back because of poor weather conditions recently.
Each year, ahead of the visitor season, OPW staff spend a number of weeks preparing the island.
It was due to open next Monday, June 21st.
The OPW says that, owing to recent poor weather and sea conditions off the South West coast, the opening date for visitors has been deferred.
The original target date was dependent on favourable weather conditions, allowing safety works prior to opening.
The island is now scheduled to open to visitors on Thursday, July 1st.
