Patrick O Donoghue from the Gleneagle Group has been named as the Kerry Business Leader of the Year for 2025.
The Business Leaders Dinner in association with Kerry Innovation Centre, Kerry County Council and Ernst and Young ( EY) was held in the Rose Hotel last night.
Emily Brick from Athena Analytics received the Emerging Business Leader Award and Dr Oliver Murphy was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
In presenting the Kerry Business Leader of the Year Award, Chair of Kerry Innovation Centre, Brid McElligott described Patrick O Donoghue as someone who leads with vision and purpose. She said that the Gleneagle Group is one of the regions largest employers and supports a huge eco system of local suppliers, while also accommodating over a quarter of a million guests a year in Killarney.
She said Mr O Donoghue was a proud Killarney man who had championed inclusivity and accessibility in the tourism industry.
The people first philosophy has seen the Gleneagle Group named as a Best Place to Work award winner, which will also inspire future generations.
Mr O Donoghue said that the award was a huge privilege. He paid tribute to his wife and partner in business Eileen, his parents and extended family and the great people working with the Gleneagle Group.
Emily Brick from Athena Analytics was honoured for her commitment to excellence, professionalism and collaboration. Dr Oliver Murphy, formerly of the MTU, was described as having left a lasting legacy through his work which saw the RTC with a campus of several hundred students now grow to three and a half thousand students,
