Over 500 applicants are on the social housing waiting list in the Castleisland MD area.
That’s according to figures provided at the recent Municipal District meeting.
Social housing units are sought by 520 applicants in the Castleisland Municipal District.
That figure includes applicants who have indicated Castleisland as one of their three areas of choice.
292 are awaiting one bed units; 143 applications have been made for two-bed homes; and 71 are on the list for three-bed units.
13 applicants are awaiting 4 bed houses, while one is on the list for a 5 bed home.
Excluding transfers from other MD areas - 328 applicants are awaiting social housing within the Municipal District.
There are currently eight vacant units in the Castleisland MD; of these two dwellings are under repair and unallocated; four units are awaiting repairs; and two homes are under repair and allocated.
In total within the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD 1,066 applicants are awaiting social housing.
