There’s been a 4% decrease in the numbers signing on Kery’s Live Register in a month.
That’s according to figures compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
These figures show there were over 5,200 people signing on in May.
During May, 5,288 people in Kerry signed on the Live Register.
That’s an increase of 0.4% when compared to May last year, when 5,266 people signed on in Kerry.
It’s also a 4% decrease when compare to the previous month; in April, 5,526 people in Kerry signed on.
Three of Kerry’s social welfare offices reported annual decreases.
Cahersiveen saw a drop of 36 to 297, while Dingle dropped 5 to 249, and in Tralee there was a drop of 76 to 2,258.
In Listowel there was an increase of 43 to 944, while Killorglin’s social welfare office saw a rise of 64 to 417 for May.
Kenmare’s figure also increased by 9 to 284, and the number of people signing on in Killarney also rose by 23 to 839.
