There’s been an almost 10% decrease in the numbers singing on Kerry’s Live Register in a month.
That’s according to figures compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
These figures show there were over 5,500 people singing on in April.
During April, 5,526 people in Kerry signed on the Live Register.
That’s a drop of 4% when compared to April last year, when 5,766 people signed on in Kerry.
It’s also a 7% decrease when compared to the previous month; in March, 5,983 people in Kerry signed on.
Five of Kerry’s social welfare offices reported annual decreases.
Cahersiveen saw a drop of 48 to 334, while Killarney dropped 23 to 925.
In Listowel there was a drop of 23 to 947, while Tralee’s social welfare office saw a decrease of 156 to 2,278 for April and there was a drop of 26 in Dingle to 294.
Kenmare’s figure remained unchanged year-on-year at 311.
In Killorglin the number of people signing on rose by 36 to 437.
