Long-awaited roadworks in Cahersiveen town are due to start in the autumn.
Fianna Fáil councillor Norma Moriarty says the overall project to improve the surface of the main N70 Ring of Kerry road through the town is a complicated one.
Cllr Moriarty says the street cannot be widened because there are buildings on both sides, while the council also has to find alternative parking for some New Street residents.
She says there is still a huge section that won’t be done because not enough funding was allocated.
The Fianna Fáil councillor, who’s from Waterville, says some work will start in September.
Meanwhile, Cllr Moriarty says the primary care centre planned for Cahersiveen will be hugely important.
The HSE confirmed to Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill that it’s looking into providing a primary care centre and a national ambulance station in one location in the town.
His party colleague, Cllr Norma Moriarty, said she was initially told in 2019 that a primary care centre would be delivered by the end of 2021.
