Expressions of interest are being sought for the use of two sites at Fels Point in Tralee.
Kerry County Council is inviting expressions of interest for these sites which are located on the Dan Spring Road in Tralee.
The council says this initiative forms part of its commitment to supporting sustainable economic growth, urban regeneration and tourism development in Tralee.
In March 2020, Kerry County Council initially published an invitation for expressions of interest to develop the sites, which are located beside the Rose Hotel.
The advertisement of expressions of interest coincided with the beginning of the pandemic, and the council said it would re-advertise the EOI for this reason.
Since then, several councillors in the Tralee Municipal District have called for expressions of interest to be re-advertised as they felt this site has huge potential.
The council has once again published the advertisement, and says it’s now encourages innovative, high-quality proposals that will enhance the economic, social, and environmental fabric of Tralee and contribute to the continued development of Fels Point as a strategic location.
One of the sites is 2.3 hectares in size and is located to the east of the Rose Hotel; this site is zoned for tourism and related purposes.
The second site to the south of the Ballymullen Roundabout measures 0.95 hectares and is zoned as a mixed use/opportunity site.
Kerry County Council says proposals for both sites must align with current national, regional, and local planning policies, as outlined in the Kerry County Development Plan.
