Further repair works are needed following a second burst on a water main in Mid-Kerry.
Customers in the in Reen, Callanafersy, and surrounding areas are impacted and Uisce Éireann says normal supply isn’t expected to resume until around 6am tomorrow.
Uisce Éireann says its crews worked throughout yesterday to repair a significant burst on the water main.
However, it says a second burst has occurred on another section of the network, requiring further repair works.
The national utility says following repairs, subsequent bursts can occur as the network refills and water pressure returns through the system.
The national utility says customers in Reen, Callanafersy, and surrounding areas may experience an interruption to their water supply from 3pm this afternoon as crews carry out necessary repair works.
Alternative water supplies, including bulk water tankers and bottled water, remain available.
There are bulk water tankers are available across from Milltown National School and bottled water is available from Milltown Football field.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Uisce Éireann’s Eoin O’Connell says they appreciate the inconvenience of these unplanned outages and they want to reassure customers that they are continuing to repair this burst as quickly and safely as possible.
It says normal supply is expected to resume from approximately 6am tomorrow morning,
However, Uisce Éireann may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
