The next section of the South Kerry Greenway, between Glenbeigh and Mountain Stage, is expected to open before the end of June.
Works are continuing on the five-kilometre stretch, with the update given to councillors at a recent full council meeting.
Kerry County Council Chief Executive, Fearghal Reidy also said a contract has been awarded for the construction of an underpass at Gortnagree, just south of Kells station.

Works on the underpass are due to begin in 2026.
