A mother whose young son was seriously injured in a collision with an e-scooter has pleaded with parents to not let their children use them.
Chloe Palmer from Barraduff was speaking after her six-year-old son Nathan suffered a fractured skull in a collision with an e-scooter near their home last week.
Chloe says Nathan, who is recovering at home, was sitting on his bicycle when he was struck from the front with the e-scooter; she says doctors told them the fact he was on his bike saved him, as it took the impact.
Gardaí have said enquiries into the matter are ongoing.
Under new plans, e-scooters are set to be banned for anyone under 18, and will be subject to licensing and registration.
Nathan's mother, Chloe Palmer, has said this will not stop parents from buying them for their children, and after the fright of thinking her young son had been killed by one, she would support an outright ban.
