A chairman of a Kerry Tidy Towns Group is urging people to take responsibilities for their action when it comes to disposable barbecues and other potential fire risks.
Last Thursday, Martin Greenwood of Castlegregory Tidy Towns found the smouldering remains of a disposable barbecue near Annascaul Lake.
He says the container was still warm and had burnt through, which had the potential to take alight.
Mr Greenwood took action by quenching and removing the barbecue at the grass bank, before disposing of it himself.
He is calling on people to take responsibility when it comes to potential fire risks and to adopt the “leave no trace” mentality.
