The Taoiseach says an investigation into Aughinish Alumina is almost finished.

Micheál Martin briefed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zlenskyy on the findings at a meeting in Kyiv today.

The factory, which is located off the N69 close to Askeaton, is a significant employer in North Kerry and West Limerick.

Micheál Martin says the investigation hasn't found definitive evidence linking exported alumina to a weapons manufacturer in Russia, but it also hasn't found evidence to suggest that is not the case.

The Taoiseach says the findings will be given to the European Commission:

The Ukrainian President is calling on the Irish government to review if it can sanction the sale of alumina to Russia domestically.

Speaking through an interpreter, President Zelenskyy says Ukraine will continue to work with the EU to see if alumina can be included in the next round of sanctions:
