Dingle Distillery has been given the go-ahead for an upgrade to open it up to more visitors.
An Coimisiún Pleanála has ruled in favour of the proposal, which had been appealed due to concerns over lighting.
Drioglann Uisce Beatha Dhaingean Uí Chúis Teoranta sought permission to retain the installed first floor in the distillery production building, which includes a visitor area and shop with tasting bar.
It also sought permission to demolish part of the protruding ground-floor elements, and add over 300 square-metres of floor space at the upper level.
The plans also included changing the layout of the distillery, and the upgrade and replacement of the external cladding.
Dingle Distillery said in its original planning application that the original building on the Old Mill site is long overdue some upgrades, and the expansion would allow them to have an increased and improved offering for visitors.
The planning application was granted permission by Kerry County Council, but this was appealed to the national planning body, over concerns around lighting in the area and impact on wildlife.
An Coimisiún Pleanála upheld the council’s decision, and granted permission for the upgrades subject to 15 conditions, including specifications around lighting, landscaping, and biodiversity planting.
