A man has been sentenced to six months in prison for theft and road traffic charges.
39-year-old Eamon Stamp of Seaside Caravan Park, Camp, appeared before Judge David Waters at Tralee District Court.
He was also handed down a six-year driving disqualification.
Eamon Stamp faced eleven theft charges, dating between December 19th last year and March 8th.
The string of thefts were from stores in Tralee including Mr Price, CH chemist, Garvey’s and Elverys, while a bicycle worth €1,200 was stolen in Rathmines, Co.Dublin.
The items were never recovered and amounted to a total value of over €2,000.
The father of two also faced charges relating to road traffic matters.
Judge David Waters heard that on two separate occasions - December 19th 2024 and March 8th 2025 – Mr Stamp drove a vehicle in Tralee without consent of the owner, drove without insurance, without a licence and while disqualified.
His solicitor Pat Mann told the court that the car belonged to an ex-partner; on the occasion she was gone to London for two days and Mr Stamp drove to purchase cigarettes in a shop.
Mr Mann told the judge that his clients most recent theft was taking four liquid cleaning tablets from Mr Price, and said it gave an indication of an impulsive mindset at the time.
He said Mr Stamp was extremely remorseful for the situation and since going into custody in Cork Prison he has undertaken very beneficial courses, including drug treatment, psychology and parenting classes.
For each of the eleven theft charges Judge Waters imposed a six-month sentence, with these to run concurrently.
In relation to the first driving instance, he was sentenced to three months in prison and disqualified from driving for four years.
In the second matter, he was jailed for four months and received a six-year driving ban.
The judge ruled that the custodial sentences are to run concurrently and backdated to when Mr Stamp went into custody in March.
