Kerry’s newest county councillor has officially taken up her council seat.
At today’s council meeting, Fine Gael councillor Aoife Kennelly was co-opted on to her father’s Mike seat, who vacated the seat following his recent election to Seanad Éireann.
Her party colleague Cllr Bobby O’Connell proposed Aoife Kennelly to fill the seat, adding that it’s a positive and progressive move.
Fianna Fáil councillor Norma Moriarty seconded the proposal, welcoming Cllr Kennelly to the female caucus of the council chamber.
Cllr Kennelly also spoke upon her co-option, and said she’s looking forward to working with every councillor in the chamber.
