Fine Gael nominate Aoife Kennelly to fill father's seat on Kerry County Council

Fine Gael has nominated Aoife Kennelly for co-option onto Kerry County Council.

Kilcummin native, MEP Seán Kelly chaired the selection convention at the Listowel Arms Hotel yesterday.

Ms Kennelly, the sole nominee, was unopposed in her bid to be co-opted into the Listowel Municipal District seat, left vacant following her father Mike’s election to Seanad Éireann in February.

She must now be formally appointed by a council resolution and will serve until the next local election.
