Kerry TD and Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae says planned toll increases on Ireland’s motorways should be deferred.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has announced that tolls on the Dublin Port Tunnel, M50, and some national roads will increase from January 1st.

There will be no increase for cars or motorcycles on the M7, M8, or N18 Limerick tunnel tolls, but buses, coaches, and HGVs will see a 10 cent increase.

Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae says the increase is simply not fair, and is another blow to hard-pressed motorists and the already-struggling haulage industry.

The Independent Kerry TD says the fair thing to do is pause the increases, and review the current toll system to ensure it’s delivering value for money, which he says he will be bringing directly to his colleagues in government.
