Kerry IFA chair asks public to be vigilant for forest fires

A Status Orange alert for forest fires will stay in effect until Monday.

The Department of Agriculture is warning people not to take part in activities which could cause wildfires.

Landowners are being urged to ensure the use of open fires, barbecues and other potential ignition sources doesn't happen in forest lands.

Jason Fleming is county chair of the Irish Farmers' Association and former IFA National Forestry Committee chair.

He says it's vital that tourists are mindful of their activities and to ensure that emergency services have access to local forests:
