Ireland’s first official SpoGomi competition is about to get underway (currently underway) in Cahersiveen.
SpoGomi is a Japanese litter-picking game that's spreading in popularity worldwide, to the extent that there is now a World Cup tournament for the sport.
The nation's first official regional competition begins at the Old Barracks and runs from 11am until 1pm.
Teams of three will have one hour to gather as much litter as possible within a 1km radius, followed by a 20-minute sorting round - where accuracy earns extra points.
Game officials from Japan will oversee the competition and an international TV production company will film it.
