The INEC arena in Killarney says it's adhering to COVID-19 guidelines for controlled environments.

Today's Irish Mirror has published details of a video showing a concert at the venue on Saturday night.

A woman who took the footage told the newspaper there were up to 400 people at the event.

A spokesperson for the Gleneagle Group says its largest venue, the INEC arena, has been opened as a residents' restaurant and lounge to ensure guests have ample space to socially distance.

The INEC says it's adhering to Fáilte Ireland's guidelines for controlled environments; maximum numbers within the premises are linked to the capacity of the premises taking physical distancing into account.

The ground floor of the INEC auditorium spans 1,400 square metres.

The Fáilte Ireland guideline appears to contradict restrictions under level two of the Living with Covid plan for organised indoor gatherings, which states up to 100 patrons are permitted in larger venues with strict two-metre physical distancing.

Normally the INEC can accommodate 4,141 people at a standing and seated event and 2,142 guests at a fully seated event.

The INEC Residents' Lounge and Restaurant opens at 6pm to accommodate guests for evening dining, with light entertainment from 9pm to 11pm for residents only.

The INEC says it carefully chooses low key, low volume acts.

There are separate entrances and exits; tables of two, four and six are situated two metres apart and are sanitized before and after use, dancing isn't permitted and guests must remain at their table.

Contact tracing details are also recorded.
