There has been a rise of prostitution offences recorded in Kerry.
That’s according to the CSO’s crime data for the first quarter of this year.
The figures which began at the start of 2025, show between January and March this year one offence of prostitution was recorded in the county.
Changes under the Criminal Law Sexual Offences Act 2017, made paying for sexual services a criminal offence.
It was previously only a crime if the person selling sex was either a victim of trafficking or a minor.
It also removed some of the criminal offences that were in place for selling sexual services.
The figures show in 2025 no incidents were recorded in Kerry.
Nationally, five incidents of prostitution were recorded in the first three months of 2026 – one in Kerry and the remainder were in Dublin.
